Description:
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) has developed and enforced several approaches with regard to its noise requirement in major projects, including differing approaches to assessing background noise (source L90 and source Lmax for example), requiring detailed background noise measurements in industrial areas and other areas with no sensitive receptors, and the requirement that the MassDEP BWP AQ form be submitted with a Professional Engineer’s stamp to represent “good air pollution control engineering practice.”
This meeting is intended to continue the discussion that started in the February 2010 meeting regarding MassDEP use of the L90 metric. In this follow-up meeting we would like to hear from local consultants about their experiences meeting MassDEP requirements and your opinions on the effectiveness of these requirements. Consultants are encouraged to bring PDF or PowerPoint files for use in illustrating their contributions and experiences. As with the prior meeting, our goal is to develop a consensus on recommendations we can present to DEP regarding the implementation of their guidelines. |
