Greater Boston Chapter
October 3, 2013
Welcome and Invoice
Dear Members and Friends:
Thank you for a very successful 2012-2013 season. We are preparing for another exciting year of events and meetings for the Greater Boston Chapter of the Acoustical Society of America. Tentative plans for this upcoming season include a tour of Sound Seal’s facility in Agawam, and presentations on a wide variety of topics such as healthcare acoustics, a continuation of our discussion regarding Massachusetts DEP policies, psychoacoustics in audio recording, and music therapy. As always, we will continue our relationship with local student chapters, neighboring local chapters of the ASA, and other related organizations.
This year’s officers are:
Chairperson: Elizabeth Lamour elamour@cavtocci.com
Secretary: Victoria Suha victoria.suha@hotmail.com
Treasurer: Nicole Cuff ncuff@acentech.com
National Liaison: Eric Reuter ereuter@reuterassociates.com
Executive Committee:
Bill Cavanaugh Herb Singleton Alicia Larsen
Mary Florentine Lawrence Copley
The Executive Committee and officers unanimously voted to declare Victoria Suha the Chapter’s first Student Representative. Victoria, also the Greater Boston Chapter’s new Secretary, is a student at Northeastern University and is working hard to form NU’s Student Chapter. We are looking forward to including more students in our chapter activities and collaborating with student chapters.
As a group, our goals are to reach a broad spectrum of people with a common interest in acoustics, to gather about once a month to discuss topics in the field, and to offer perspectives on current issues in acoustics. Please visit the chapter website at http://www.gbcasa.org to find the latest chapter information. We encourage you to join our email distribution to receive meeting notices. You can sign up instantly from the chapter website’s homepage. Also, if you are a Linked In or Twitter user, please look for us online.
The Greater Boston Chapter and its events are supported on a volunteer basis. Please be aware that it is not necessary to be a member of ASA National to join our local chapter, and guests are always welcome at all events. If you would prefer to pay your dues by hand, please take a moment to fill out and submit the enclosed membership form with your payment. Although we are partially supported by ASA, ASA membership does not include membership to the regional chapters, and we rely on dues to ensure that meetings are fully paid for. Be sure to include your email address as we will continue to distribute our meeting notices solely via email this year. Alternatively, you will be able to pay your membership dues on our website via PayPal.
