Dear Members and Friends:
Thank you for a very successful 2013-2014 season! Tentative plans for this upcoming season include a tour of the new Boston Conservatory, joint meetings with Boston AES and the Northeastern University Student Chapter, and presentations on a wide variety of topics such as healthcare acoustics, human sound localization, and environmental acoustics.
I also want to thank all of you for helping to make Leo’s birthday celebration such a huge success. I have heard nothing but kind words regarding the concert and reception. Bill Cavanaugh and I worked very hard with our collaborators at the BSO to get all of this organized, and we are happy to know everyone had a good time! Special thanks to the GBC officers Victoria and Bob, and extra special thanks to all of our sponsors. We could not have done this without each and every one of you. The GBC hired a photographer to capture the event, and there will be a notice sent around in a few weeks when those images are available on the website. If you have photos (or video) you would like to share, please send them along!

After two years of dedicated service, Nicole Cuff has stepped down as the chapter Treasurer. We appreciate her service and hard work assisting with the email transition to MailChimp and the new website transition. Bob Connick from Acentech will be our new Treasurer. Thank you, Nicole, for your service, and welcome, Bob!
As a group, our goals are to reach a broad spectrum of people with a common interest in acoustics, to gather about once a month to discuss topics in the field, and to offer perspectives on current issues in acoustics. Please visit the chapter website at http://www.gbcasa.org to find the latest chapter information. We encourage you to join our email distribution to receive meeting notices. You can sign up instantly from the chapter website’s homepage. Also, if you are a Linked In or Twitter user, please look for us online (if you are interested in helping us maintain our social media sites, please let me know!).
The Greater Boston Chapter and its events are supported on a volunteer basis. Please be aware that it is not necessary to be a member of ASA National to join our local chapter, and guests are always welcome at all events. If you would prefer to pay your dues by hand, please take a moment to fill out and submit the enclosed membership form with your payment. Although we are partially supported by ASA, ASA membership does not include membership to the regional chapters, and we rely on dues to ensure that meetings are fully paid for. Alternatively, you will be able to pay your membership dues on our website via PayPal. If you wish to receive our meeting notices and other news, please join our mailing list.
