Trip to American Acoustical Products

Featured Speaker:

Peter Jackson – Technical Director, American Acoustical Products.

Description:

American Acoustical Products manufactures acoustical materials for the OEM industry. The materials range from foam and fiberglass based composites for sound absorption, to vinyl based heavy flexible barriers for increasing sound transmission loss, and extruded polymer based vibration damping sheets. They also have developed the spaced sound absorbing systems known as Millennium Metal and manufacture a variety of constrained layer damped products using metal, fiberglass and plywood.

Peter Jackson is a member of the SAE Acoustical Materials Committee and is involved helping write a new standard SAE J2883 LABORATORY MEASUREMENT OF RANDOM INCIDENCE SOUND ABSORPTION TESTS USING A SMALL REVERBERATION ROOM.

There will be a tour of the acoustical laboratory and demonstration of the 11m³ reverberation room which utilizes non parallel walls, pressure zone microphones, a distributed mode loudspeaker, and Maximum Length Sequence based analysis to achieve reverberation measurements down to 100Hz. A display of the range of acoustical materials they manufacture will also be on hand for visitors to examine.
